The category isssssssss giving it a hundo. As in, one hundred percent. Like the end of one of those sports-ball movies. Or Elmer Fudd dunking in Space Jam.
I can’t believe this is issue number one-hundred! It feels like yesterday, when a few great transgender-minds were transgender-sad and wanted to make themselves and other folx transgender-happy. Hopefully we succeeded at least once out of these one-hundred tries. Have these lil newsletters made you happy? If so, good. If not, give me your home address and I will send a golden retriever puppy in the mail.
There are many things where I know I haven’t done my best. In fact, I think phoning it in sometimes is a survival trait. Energy is sacred and should be directed towards things one is passionate about. It feels most right when my energy is focused on the things I love, such as my sweet, sweet transgender community. I’m definitely not going to give a hundo to some survival job or any of the toxic people who’ve darkened my doorstep.
Where to place energy forces the question to be asked: What is most important? Family? Friends? Maybe it’s the completion of a creative endeavor. For me, it is to leave every room I walk into, better than I left it. And making something on this big green rock a little more beautiful before my time is up. At least that’s the goal. What will you be giving your energy to? Who in your life gets a hundo? Hopefully, for at least a moment, it’s the person in the mirror.
